Hi! I need some CD-Rom help. My CD-Rom stopped reading CD's. I can burn them, but they won't play them. It says an application to connect to the CD-rom failed or something like that. It just started doing this yesterday. It was fine before that. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks! If helping me via skype is easier, my skype name is alicesongfan
Thanks again
Lauren

Your CD drive by its nature reads first, burns later. What I mean is the operating system reads the CD, you have extra software, or an extension in the OS, to burn them.

So, have you tried playing a music CD in there?
What CDs are not reading properly? We need a sample size greater than one for this, preferably greater than two or three to know.
This might be different if you have an extension or application you're using to read a CD with. I have not seen the error you describe, usually it's just a drive read error: Error reading drive <letter> or Insert disk ... something of that nature.
We need to know what OS you're using, Windows or Mac, straight linux wouldn't mount I think unless one of the newer desktops is nicer about its errors.
If you can at all copy down the error plus give us more information about your computer, one of us could even Google the error for you, sort through the junk and find real data on it.
